Like many great ideas, the idea for this website was first conceived over a round of beers at a local bar. Frustrated and discouraged by politicians, government incompetence, public corruption, political parties and the seemingly willful ignorance of the American public, the cofounders of this site resolved to do something about it.
The contributors of this site hope to clearly communicate and expound conservative ideas and principles. By clearly defining the conservative worldview, we firmly believe that many conservatives will find their convictions and tendencies strengthened by a renewed and enlightened understanding of the solutions that will best guide our country into the future. We further believe that many who do not yet think themselves conservative will, when honestly confronted by the facts and evidence, find themselves convinced of the merits of conservatism.
The contributors of this site plan to demonstrate that it is the abandonment of conservative principles in both government and society that has directly threatened our liberties, our economic prosperity, and our distinctly American way of life. Conversely, we aim to prove that a return to conservative principles is the best way to protect the things we care most about. We will also take these abstract truths and translate them for our readers to show how they directly (and indirectly) effect real life situations and current events.
The purpose of this site is not to provide an endless justification for the proposals and actions of the Republican Party. In other words, an idea is not good simply because a Republican came up with it or, conversely, an idea bad because it originated from a Democrat. We will not engage in blind partisan bickering but will judge each concept on its intellectual and practical merits.
The contributors of this site are not members of the ever-growing fraternity of professional pundits and writers. By design, you will find that the regular writers and guest contributors on this site come from all different walks of life and from different parts of the country. We live in real neighborhoods, work real jobs and come from diverse regions of the country; not the DC-NY corridor where the vast majority of pundits live and congregate, regurgitating the same stories and continuing the same conversations. We will be different. We will engage and direct our attention to the issues that matter most to American families and communities, because those same issues matter most to us.
The articles and posts on this site will encourage you to think hard about issues and ideas, because we believe ideas have consequences in the real world. The contributors of this site will read books, essays and articles covering a diverse range of ideas and issues and will encourage our readers to do the same. We will attempt to stretch our readers intellectually because we will attempt to stretch ourselves likewise. Often, contrary to modern thought, the best solutions are not the simplest, and it can take real effort to properly reason and understand issues. Complex problems often require complex answers.
Here we stand.
